Dark Dream Pop

I had heard a lot about Purity Ring before I downloaded their debut album Shrines yesterday, legally of course.

Opinions of the duo’s debut effort were polar: Pitchfork loved it, although they didn’t like this song, and XLR8R hated it, describing it as The Knife but “void of any emotional depth and authentic mystery”. Personally, I love it. I’ve always had a weak spot for dream-pop but this is built so beautifully that it makes me think of what it would sound like to hear Clams Casino with a vocalist.

Hear is a fan-made video for the song. Cheers to 01100111 for the upload.
