New George Fitzgerald – Needs You EP

George Fitzgerald

London born-and-bred George Fitzgerald is one of the frontrunners in UK garage and house beats. After releases on Hotflush, Aus, as well as his own imprint ManMakeMusic he’s now released this new record, entitled Needs You EP, on Hypercolour, a label now boasting releases from Moska, Eats Everything and Groove Armada, not bad eh?

Following his brilliant Child EP from June this year Fitzgerald comes back with an equally head-bobbing record. The title track features a Fitzgerald-esque chord progression intro and minimal percussion before the bassline kicks in, a bassline that sounds to me like a detuned, house version of a Benny Benassi synth and once the drums drop the synth is properly appreciated, it’s enough to get any party started. ‘Every Inch’ is much more laid back reminiscent of the final track from Child ‘Unilateral’ where Fitzgerald puts more emphasis on making an emotive track filled with chord work fading in and out of view.
